This 5th Tuesday Meeting is one you won't want to miss! Why? Because it's wine and cheese plus a quick ClubRunner 101! Join us at Patsy's house: 3202 Stratford Drive in Temple at 5:30 on August 30th. A recap of why you should attend-- you get to have wine, fun with friends, yummy munchies, wine, learn all you need to know to function on ClubRunner, wine, and it serves as a makeup meeting for attendance! Hope to see you there! P.S. For those of you who do not care for wine, please know you'll be taken care of as well! There will of course be other drinks available!

Welcoming all new members and those who still feel like a new member! Please come to a social hosted in your honor at Debbie Mabry's Home. We'll have food and drinks and a very casual get-together to provide you with an opportunity to mingle with other NEW Altrusans as well as a brief orientation into the basics of our club. I will answer questions like: -do I need to sign up for lunch and if so, how? -what does our board do and why are they always making recommendations? - what can I do to get more involved? - what exactly is the Taste of the Holidays and why do people go crazy over it? - what is ClubRunner? - do I have to do EVERYTHING that comes across my email? as well as any other questions you may have. Don't need to bring a thing other than something to take notes on if you'd like to do so. Look forward to seeing you there! |

Sep. 24, 2016 8:30 a.m. - 12:38 p.m.
This will be the first of 3 workdays to make bookcases from pallets. The bookcases will be placed in the Childrens Play Room at The Well. Co-Chair Angela Cases has a simple plan to assemble, sand, and paint to make the bookcases. We need your help! Wear your old clothes and closed-toed shoes, bring your Altrusan spirit, work gloves and, if by any chance you have a belt sander, please bring it! Barb has safety glasses and dust masks. Barb Pearcy has graciously invited us to do this work in her barn in Morgans Point (50 Stirrup Drive). Barb's number is 254-598-9983. Just to let you, most GPS systems are a little confused about this area, so here are 2 possible routes: From Temple: Come west on Adams to FM 317, turn right, continue to FM2483 where you turn right, then turn right on Lake Forest, right on Stirrup. From Belton, coming across the Dam Rd, continue straight on to Morgan's Point Rd. Turn right at FM 2483 (near the liquor store), then turn left on Lake Forest the right on to Stirrup. 50 Stirrup will be on the left. Drive into her property and the barn is on the left. Call Barb if you need help finding the house. This will be fun work & I know Altrusans can get this done!

Neema House
Sep. 27, 2016
Neema House, a 501(c)3 organization in the USA and an NGO in Tanzania, operates in the city of Arusha, Tanzania, and is a rescue center for orphaned, abandoned and at-risk babies. It is currently operating at over capacity with forty-six babies receiving in-house care, as of January 16, 2016. The number of babies needing help far exceeds the current facilities and resources of Neema House. Babies come to Neema when hospitals and police stations call asking for help with babies who have been abandoned or orphaned. Babies have been left on the roadside, on porches, in yards, left alone in houses and even in latrines. At Neema House they have all found love and care. |

Oct. 01, 2016 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Last Saturday (Bookcase Workday #1) held at Barb Pearcy's in Morgan's Point was a terrific start on making bookcases for The Well at Feed My Sheep. Nine Altrusans and one cheerful, helpful spouse arrived full of willingness and determination to get the job underway! Our fearless co-chair Angela Cases lead us through the process. Pallets were broken down, as needed, and the sanding began! This Saturday, October 1st, we plan to meet and make even more progress. We would love to have more people join us this weekend. No registration this time - just come by if you can - for as long as you can - some of us have to leave a little early for kid's sports. Did I mention we have kolaches? In addition to the bookcases, we have more Bedtime Bags for HOPE Pregnancy to be stringed. You could bring a lawn chair, sit and string some bags and cheer on the construction workers. Directions From Temple - come West on 2305 (Adams), Turn right on 317 Travel to FM 2483 (at flashing light) turn left Proceed to Lake Forest (at water tower) turn right Go to stop sign and turn left on Stirrup Drive, proceed to 50 Stirrup If gate is closed call 598-9983

It's time again to test your natural talent! You pick whether that's talent for painting or talent for enjoying wine. We'll be doing both on Thursday, October 27th at this Club Social. Plan to come and bring a friend! As yearly dues are about to be cut in half, now is a great time to encourage that friend who's been on the fence about joining! Or take the time to invite that friend you keep thinking about asking! To Register go to this link: http://www.paintingwithatwist.com/events/viewEvent.aspx?eventID=908704 and use the password "ALTRUSA". You must register and pay on the Painting With a Twist website at the link provided above. A reservation only through Clubrunner will not save your spot. We will be painting "If the Shoe Fits..." Thanks goes to Tammy Bennett, who is our event chair, and she is planning to bring a special fall drink for all to try. Of course, bring something else to share (food and/or drink) and we'll have fun painting! See you then! |

Dec. 03, 2016 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
I am the chair of this project, however, I have tickets to go out of town on Saturday. So I could use a few volunteers to help Marsha at the Mrs. Claus booth on Saturday. The doors open Saturday, Dec 3 at 8:30 a.m., so the first volunteers please arrive by 8:00 a.m. Check in at the Volunteer Desk for ‘Ms. Claus Booth #42’. In the past, the children signed a guest book then climbed the stairs to sit and visit with Ms. Claus. Many of the parents want pictures so we can offer to take those. The main responsibilities of volunteer Altrusans are to visit with the children waiting in line, assist them in signing the guest book (they use a giant pencil that is rather difficult to use), and maneuver the stairs. We need at least one volunteer helping Marsha during the day on Saturday. The doors will close at 5:00 p.m. Altrusans will then undecorate the booth and reflect on yet another wonderful, completed project ;-) |
