If you missed our April 11th meeting...Susan Cory was honored as Altrusan of the Year! I cannot think of a more deserving person for the 2016-2017 Altrusa year. We have had many Altrusans who have contributed tremendously in actions through projects and committees during the year and as Julie Ruiz (MC for the Event) said, "It was a tough choice because so very many Altrusans have stepped up and contributed so much."
Since we had our Altrusan of the Year Celebration and our Altrusa 100th Birthday Celebration on April 11th, our regular April business meeting will be Tuesday, April 25th.
If you are looking for something to do with your spare time, our latest project is Kids Against Hunger. Location is First Methodist Church in Temple. Time and date...Monday, April 24th 5:00 - 8:00 PM.
MARK YOUR CALENDAR...If you are serving on the new Board of Directors for the 2017-2018 Altrusa Year, our first board meeting will be a joint board meeting with the outgoing board Tuesday, May 2nd from noon to 1:00 PM at the Temple Public Library in the Board Room.
Thank you for all you do for our community and THANK YOU for allowing me to serve you!
If you plan to go to Conference in April 2017, don't forget to make your hotel reservation. The reservations at the host hotel could go quickly! Conference is a ton of fun and you will enjoy spending time with Altrusans from Temple and the other clubs in Disctrict Nine. Email me if you have any questions dorothyg@hot.rr.com.
Debbie Fendrick will be coordinating housing and travel for our District Nine Conference in Waco in 2017.
Remember the "100 for 100" challenges ...100 hours of personal service through Altrusa projects and fundraisers or other community service performed while wearing your Altrusa logo or pin? AND the donation of 100 books to our community? Well...here's an update...
We have donated over 400 books to our community through our Make A Difference Day Project. And Chip has an ever growing list of Altrusans who have reached the 100 hours of community service already.
Please continue to log your hours with Chip and his team so we can meet this goal for our district. Can you imagine all of the wonderful things we are accomplishing by simply giving back to our community through literacy and service!
