Happy New Year! I hope each of you had a wonderful holiday season and that you are ready to begin the last half of our Altrusa year.
Thank you to everyone on the Christmas party committee led by Carol McDuffie. It was such a fun party! And, thank you to Jane Gibson for taking photos of everyone.
Altrusans accomplished a lot in December - we provided Christmas gifts for needy students through our Rescue Elves project; we decorated the Fisher House at Ft. Cavazos for Christmas, which provides temporary housing for active and retired military undergoing medical treatment; we decorated and sold raffle tickets at Chrome & Carols, a fundraiser for United Way; we provided hygiene and personal items to seniors served through the Belton Housing Authority through our Love Covers All project; and we helped set up rooms at the new Temple Community Clinic.
This month, we are helping the Temple Community Clinic host two open houses, and one of our favorite projects, Kids Against Hunger, is set for January 27. We still have funds in our project budget, so please bring forth ideas for new projects! Save the date for January 30 - a really fun social is planned! Details will be forthcoming.
One other very important item - we will elect a nominating committee at our business meeting. This committee will propose the slate of officers for the coming year.
