This past week was an amazing week for Altrusa. Sunday Beverly opened her home for our Astra Welcome Back Party. Belton, Salado, and UMHB students enjoyed food, fellowship, and swimming. From the photos below, you can see there was a nice large group of Astra members as well as Altrusans in attendance (many of whom are not pictured).
Then, Tuesday we had our 5th Tuesday Social at Patsy Sulak's home where ClubRunner 101 was discussed by ClubRunner guru Chip Howell and Facebook intricacies were discussed by our Facebook guru Pam Lanham.
Also, this week was Buddy Bench installation week where Glen's Welding actually delivered and installed the Buddy Benches at our elementary schools in Temple. Glen's Welding donated their time, talent and supplies to make this happen for us. THANK YOU! Scott, Terry, and Justin of Glen's Welding. Matthew LeBlanc was on hand from TISD to take photos of some of the events. A big "Thank You" to Beverly and Theresa for all of their work making this happen. All of the elementary schools in Temple will have a Buddy Bench when installations are completed.
We have so many Altrusans working behind the scenes in our communities. You know who you are! THANK YOU!
There is no better way to end a wonderful year than to Charter a new ASTRA Club! We now have three ASTRA clubs and the Altrusa International of Temple, TX, Inc. ASTRA Committee is doing a fantastic job of keeping these students engaged in serving our community. If you would like to get involved, the ASTRA Committee holds a monthly "Margarita Monday" to talk about ways to engage with the students. The next "Margarita Monday" is July 18th, 6:00pm at Little Mexico Restaurant off of HK Dodgen Loop.
Please welcome Kimberly Chavez & Tucker Saxton, two new Altrusa members that were ASTRA board members from UMHB. We look forward to continuing to serve with them now that they have graduated college.
If you plan to go to Conference in April 2017, don't forget to make your hotel reservation. The reservations at the host hotel could go quickly!
