Last Saturday, September 24th, eight Altrusans and one spouse met at Barbara Pearcy's barn to make bookcases out of wooden pallets. We will be there again this coming Saturday, October 1st from 8:30 - 12:30. If your Saturday is a little slow (yeah right!) come on out to Barb's Barn and we'll put you to work. If you aren't handy with making bookcases out of pallets, Susan Cory (Leader of the Pack) said she will have Blessing Bags to be strung. So, there will be something for everyone. These are the directions to Barb's Barn:

         From Temple - come West on 2305 (Adams), Turn right  on 317 Travel to FM 2483 (at flashing light) turn left Proceed to Lake Forest (at water tower) turn right Go to stop sign and turn left on Stirrup Drive, proceed to 50 Stirrup If gate is closed call 598-9983

          We are still collecting books for The Well at Feed My Sheep. This is the women's center where the book cases will go once they are put together, sanded and painted. New or gently used women's books and children's books are needed. Also, we are still collecting business clothing for women for The Well. The children's area will have a small table and chairs that were donated that will sit on top of the amazing rug donated by Barbara Pearcy (photo below). It's even washable!

          The Taste of The Holidays is right around the corner and Shirley Ewing and her team are busy rounding up spare hands to assist with all of the chores that make for an awesome fundraiser. If you have any gift cards or other raffle items, please let Melissa Bragg know soon. The tickets are going to the printer and the description of items is required to be on the ticket. The closer it gets to November 17th, the more excited we get. It is truly amazing to see what a team of Altrusans can deliver on that day.

          If you are looking for ways to increase your volunteer hours, please consider the MADD workdays at Barb's Barn on Saturday, October 1st and October 8th; AND getting everything ready for The Taste of The Holidays. If you have not turned in your hours to Chip, please do so. He is the Keeper of the Hours! We are shooting for 100 hours for each one of us before April 2017. We can do this!
