What an exciting time we had at the Altrusa Christmas Party Monday evening. The food was great, and the venue was delightful. Thank you Tara Stafford and Debbie Gordon for putting this together for us. You two really know how to throw a party. The Christmas ornament exchange was a very nice touch and everyone went home with a Christmas ornament that was new and different from the one they brought.
Remember, we will not have a program meeting in December. Our Christmas Party took the place of our program meeting. So, the next time we will meet will be our business meeting on January 10th. Our Board will meet on January 3rd at noon at the Library as usual.
Donna Lammert, RWYC Program Director, shared a note with us through Beverly and Sharon. She said, "When the children at RWYC get off the bus to come to the Center, they are asking if "those ladies that read to us are coming today?" " That is just so adorable to get an image of a child who may not have the opportunity to have someone read to them be excited to have that happen. If you have time available to read to these precious children please email Beverlyor give her a call. She will be happy to put your name on the list of readers.
If you have service hours or community hours to go toward our goal of 100 hours for each Temple Altrusan, please email those hours to Chipby simply clicking on his name and emailing the hours. How easy is that...no muss no fuss...no form to fill out!
I hope each one of you have a Very Merry Christmas and the Happiest of New Years. You won't hear from me again through the newsletter until next year with our January 6, 2017 edition of our Altrusa Newsletter.
We had another great crew at Barb's Barn Saturday to continue the process of making bookcases and stringing Blessing Bags. We will be there again this coming Saturday, October 8th from 8:30 - 12:30. Susan Cory will be leading the charge again and I hear we will be painting, so if you are handy with a paint roller, come on out. Even if you are not so handy with a paint roller (like me), come on out anyway and cheer on the team.

If you would like to contribute to Club 21 (Altrusa Foundation), Kathy Folley is still collecting. Club 21 is an awesome way for us to donate just $21 each year to the Altrusa Foundation. The money we donate goes into a fund that is distributed back to Altrusa Clubs all over the World for worthy projects. Altrusa International of Temple, TX. Inc. has been a recipient of one of those grants with Camp Dreamcatcher a couple of years ago. Your dollars are tax deductible if you choose and you can be well assured that your hard-earned money is going to a good cause. AND besides all of that, you get a really cool Club 21 pin to wear.
Please consider a contribution. It is not mandatory that you contribute each year, but once you see all of the worthy grants the foundation funds, you will more than likely want to continue. THANK YOU for your consideration in support of this worthy foundation. Kathy will have forms at our meetings in October, but I have attached the link to the form if you want to print it and bring it to a meeting with your $21.
The 2016 Fall Leadership Event(FLE) is right around the corner (Saturday, November 5th). Registration is still open and you can get with Barbara Pearcy for housing and carpooling details. Click this link to open the packet of information.
