Altrusa Newsletter, Issue No. 26, November 25, 2016
I hope everyone had a truly blessed Thanksgiving. Many of us are still enjoying a non-work day today with a long week-end to get ready for Christmas. Don't forget to go to the gym, walk a little bit extra or do something to help get rid of those extra pounds from all the turkey and dressing.
Our Program meeting this past Tuesday centered around Taste brags and WOW...we had a ton of brags. What an awesome opportunity we had as Altrusans to work together to serve our guests, thereby serving our community. Theresa will have a banner year for projects and scholarships and I can't wait to see her in action.
Don't forget to sign up for our Altrusa Christmas Party Monday evening, December 12th from 6:30 to 8:30 at the Cellar in downtown Temple. (the Cellar is next door to Pignetti's). Tara is taking reservations and you can click on her name to email her your reservation and she will provide you details about meal choices. This event is open to Altrusan's and guests and the cost is $35 per person for dinner and two drink tickets.
Friday, December 2nd is the day for decorating Ms. Claus' booth at the Bell County Expo Center for Christmas on The Farm. Volunteers are needed to decorate starting at 10:00 am and lasting for a couple of hours. Marsha Brown has graciously agreed to be Ms. Claus, but she will need some Altrusan assistance with taking pictures, visiting with the children in line waiting to see Ms. Claus, and things like that. If you can spare a couple of hours during the day on Saturday, December 3rd, Ms. Claus will be in Booth #42. When you check in, just check in for booth #42. Theresa is leading this project and she can be contacted by clicking on her name. the link will take you to her email where you can let her know the time you are available Saturday. Doors open at 8:00 am and the event is over at 5:00 pm. By the way...When you see (or talk with...or email) Theresa...congratulations are in order. She is a new grandmother of a beautiful granddaughter, Brooklynn.
If you have service hours or community hours to go toward our goal of 100 hours for each Temple Altrusan, please email those hours to Chipby simply clicking on his name and emailing the hours. How easy is that...no muss no fuss...no form to fill out!
Thank you for all you do for our community and THANK YOU for allowing me to serve you.
Several Altrusans visited Charlie Wharton's Starfire Trunk Show at Precious Memories Thursday afternoon. What an awesome assortment of jewelry he has on display. Betty Thrasher was there to great us and she is excited about the upcoming Taste of The Holidays. Charlie has made a commitment to donate another piece of his collection for our raffle. THANK YOU, Charlie and Betty!
The 2016 Fall Leadership Event(FLE) is right around the corner (Saturday, November 5th). Registration is still open and you can get with Barbara Pearcy for housing and carpooling details. Click this link to open the packet of information.
If you plan to go to Conference in April 2017, don't forget to make your hotel reservation. The reservations at the host hotel could go quickly!
