Dear Altrusans,
July was a wonderful reminder of what we can accomplish when we work together. Our club approved four new service projects, and we wasted no time putting one of them into action with Project Apple Tree.
Thanks to the generosity and hard work of our members, we assembled hygiene kits containing soap, shampoo, a washcloth, comb, toothbrush, and toothpaste. These kits will be placed in backpacks filled with school supplies and new clothing for students in Belton, Academy, and Holland ISDs. We also donated 250 early-reader books to Helping Hands to help encourage a love of reading in the children they serve. Every item we packed and every book we donated is another way we are living our theme of Pieces with Purpose by making a meaningful difference in the lives of local children.
It was also a pleasure to welcome two new members to our Altrusa family. Please join me in extending a warm welcome to Carol Kintigh and Britiany Loving. We are excited to have you serving alongside us and look forward to seeing the unique gifts you bring to our club.
Our Taste of the Holidays committee has been hard at work planning the menu, decorations, and entertainment for what promises to be another outstanding event. The raffle team is busy creating amazing packages and the sponsorship team has mailed letters to potential sponsors. We appreciate everyone's efforts in making this fundraiser a success. If you have questions about our one and only fundraiser, or would like to volunteer, please see Linda Moore.
Our ASTRA committee continues to invest in the next generation of leaders by hosting its Leadership Event on August 9. If you would like to lend a hand with this event or learn more about the committee's work, please reach out to Debbie Mabry.
The Dragoo Crew is busy preparing for our final presentation at Troy ISD on September 4. Thank you to everyone who showed up early to the July Program Meeting to help get ready for this amazing project.
Finally, I hope you'll make plans to attend our Program Meeting on August 25, where we will welcome a guest speaker from Foster Love. I know you'll find the program both inspiring and informative.
Thank you for your continued dedication, generosity, and servant hearts. Every project, every volunteer hour, and every act of kindness helps complete the picture of service in our community. I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events as we continue making a difference—one piece at a time.
